2015 summer road-trip to Chicago. An easy drive from Columbus, good company, and a fun city — who could ask for anything more?
Chicago has a beautiful skyline. My companions were very kind and patient as I took these night shots. So beautiful. I must have been drooling. Our friend Rithish. Also called the selfie-king. For every photo I take, he’s got 3 on his phone. I just can’t keep up! My friend Cory was visiting Chicago the same weekend… he had been here a few hours earlier and it was completely empty. I learned from him that this was a mandatory tourist photo, so I had to. The inside of the cloud gate bean sculpture thing is even more cool than the outside. Looks like an alien brain. (Because naturally I know what those look like.) Late in the day, we scaled the Hancock tower. Well, we took the the elevator. My companions feet were tired from walking and I wasn’t sure they could manage the climb up. From the top of the Hancock tower… the beach view is fantastic. I posted this photo on 500px, and it’s been the most popular photo I’ve posted yet. Skyline of Chicago. Times like this I wish I were a bird… well, one that knows how to take photos with an SLR. From the basement of the Hancock tower, there is this fantastic sculpture charting out the heavens in the sky. It’s not really blue, but it looks more like a special eye this way. Isn’t there a Bond movie where the car comes flying out of these garages? I sometimes get lost taking pictures. During this one I remember hearing, “Adam, you’re in the middle of street and a car is coming”, and I recall thinking, that, yes, of course there is… I can see it in my view finder.
